I hate the word "modalities" and all the people that use it.
(I'm sure some of you are nice, if you're on here. Just don't use it at me please )
ME TOO! Worse than ‘playdate’ and all verbified nouns.
@IcooIey Oooh, close call with the verbified nouns - I think "journalling" would still be worse for me.
@IcooIey I had a good natured conversation about this word not long ago in which someone suggested that a dislike for "journalling" is why they chose to use "diarying" instead
@fkamiah17
Do we not wish to use complete sentences anymore in this fast paced modern life?
“I shall sit for a bit in this pleasant nook and chronicle my daily thoughts and concerns in this handsome, artistically decorated journal for posterity.”
Vs.
“Yo, journaled.”
@IcooIey It's worse than that really, because it's dressed up in that horrible, fluffy wellness language.
"I'm taking a moment to reconnect and be present by diarying"
@fkamiah17
I just went to a place that offered for $225, a one hour guided forest bathing experience with a trained practitioner. I looked into the training, $3000 for a six month ONLINE course.
Make this make sense.
@IcooIey I blame Paltrow.
@fkamiah17
I blame capitalism and desperate people searching for meaning wherever they can find it and grifters out for a whatever they can snag.
But yes, she has a lot to answer for.
@IcooIey There was definitely a lot of it about before she came along but she made it painfully middle class aspirational, rather than a semi-fringe, almost hippy thing. People will listen to any old crap (and accept paying absurd amounts of money for it) if a rich, pretty, thin person tells you it's cool.
Capitalism is the root of all evil, including this shite.
