Ankara, Turkiye:

@hannu_ikonen Turkiye has basically exploded. There are massive demonstrations in at least half a dozen different cities, including Ankara and Istanbul. This is Saraçhane earlier tonight.

@fkamiah17 @hannu_ikonen They are chanting "Erdoğan without diploma". He probably has a fake diploma while he got the real uni diploma of İmamoğlu revoked, for he was transferred to this prestigious uni unlawfully. Tho, this ultimately shows general fucked up nature of ruling class. You can't run for president here without a uni diploma, an rich fucks and islamist weirdos, our ruling classes, are too fucking out of their minds to find someone who graduated from uni without cheating.

@livinghell @fkamiah17 @hannu_ikonen

the whole thing about not being able to be president without a degree seems fucked up - not even sure if *any* other countries do this (although its more common for UK Prime Ministers to have been to University, 8 so far have not had degrees, including two in my own living memory (James Callaghan and John Major)

@vfrmedia Millions of people, on the right side of the history, coming together to mock someone (a brutal dictator and a killer) for his lack of higher education captures my contempt for this country very well.

@livinghell my French teacher in high school was Turkish, he was a complete Thatcho bootlicker (unusual for teachers in that era (1980s)) and *obsessed* with paper qualifications which he genuinely considered made people more worthy than those without them..

@vfrmedia I probably know the elite private school system he was educated in. Turkey has French High Schools older than the republic. Usually raising those kinds of people.

@livinghell BTW I moved up a year in French and took my O-Level early and he was the teacher in the advanced class, I did wonder ( for 37 years!) what the connection was between France and Turkey but he never mentioned anything about this, and as I live in a multicultural country I didn't think anything strange about a French teacher being Turkish.

Thanks for clearing this up, it all makes sense now!

@livinghell @hannu_ikonen The ruling class everywhere is starting to eat itself out of greed, corruption and incompetence.

@livinghell @hannu_ikonen There's even a protest in Erdoğan's home town!

@livinghell @hannu_ikonen It seems Imamoglu and over 100 of his colleagues have been taken to prison. There are reports that Erdoğan may have fled Ankara.

@hannu_ikonen @fkamiah17

Half a dozen would be six.
Turkey is a large country.
